We take a look at Lancashire spin bowler Simon Kerrigan's career to-date following his inclusion in England's 14-man Ashes squad for the fifth and final Test at the Oval. May 10, 1989: Simon Christopher Kerrigan, born in Preston, Lancashire 2007: Made his second XI debut for his native county. 2010 April: Took 5-43 in the second innings on his first-class debut for Lancashire against Warwickshire at Old Trafford. Finished with seven wickets in the match as Lancashire won by 121 runs. September: Ended his maiden first-class summer with 30 wickets in 13 matches, promoted to a frontline role after Gary Keedy's pre-season injury. 2011 May: Recorded figures of 5-7 as he and fellow slow left-armer Keedy bowled Warwickshire out at Edgbaston in a 147-run win. September: Kerrigan was at it again, with a career-best 9-51 - including the final Hampshire wicket in the nick of time for a crucial victory at Liverpool. A week later, Lancashire won their first county championship outright since 1934 with victory over Somerset at Taunton - where Kerrigan made his highest first-class score, just 40. 2012: Topped 50 first-class wickets, with 44 in the championship as Lancashire were nonetheless relegated, and six for England Lions against Australia A on his home ground. 2013 July: Took 12 wickets in Lancashire's drawn Division Two championship match against Glamorgan at Old Trafford. August 17: Took 1-66 on the second and final day of England Lions' rain-affected draw against Australia in Northampton. August 18: Handed a surprise call-up to England's 14-man squad for the fifth and final Ashes Test at The Oval.
