Classic Ashes Moments: Alastair Cook scores unbeaten 235 in Brisbane
England skipper proved an immovable object at The Gabba
Sunday 5 July 2015 15:02, UK
Alastair Cook proved a vital cog for England – and a real thorn in Australia’s side – as the tourists won the 2010/11 Ashes down under.
The opener plundered 766 runs across the five Tests at a whopping average of 127.66, collecting three hundreds along the way, including ones at the Adelaide Oval and the Sydney Cricket Ground.
However, his finest moment was surely the unbeaten 235 he amassed in the first Test in Brisbane as England made 517-1 declared in their second knock en route to drawing a game they looked likely to lose after conceding a 221-run lead after the first innings.
