England fast bowler Chris Jordan is relishing the opportunity to play an active part in proceedings after a frustrating tour of the UAE.

The Sussex bowler was initially omitted from the squad for the three Tests and four one-day internationals against Pakistan, but was called up as a replacement for Steve Finn in October after he picked up an injury.

Jordan has been unused as a bowler, however, leading to a frustrating spell where he only featured on occasion in substitute-fielding cameo roles.

But the 27-year-old was always in England's plans for the three Twenty20 matches, which get underway in Dubai on Thursday, and featured in the warm-up victory over the UAE on Monday, taking 2-14 in Abu Dhabi.

"I had to be quite patient, it's been a long tour," Jordan told Sky Sports News HQ. "It can be difficult at times but as long as you're doing your work every day and try to work as hard as possible you can get back into that team.

"You keep doing the right things off the field and when you do get that opportunity, you can take it. If I do get that opportunity, it would take that one moment of brilliance and I would be away again. Hopefully that opportunity would come and I can take it.

"I have to keep backing my ability and methods and trust that it will happen. It's always good touring with England."

Jordan got the nod ahead of Liam Plunkett, a move that came as a surprise to many, but he is keen to make the most of his opportunity to impress in the five-day format.

"I've been doing my best to try and force my way into the team, doing my training and doing my practice," he said.

"I'm living my dream out here, touring with England, playing with England and seeing so much of the world. It's not hard for me to get motivated here. My body feels in great shape and hopefully I can keep looking forward from here."
