England seamer Katherine Brunt is enjoying her first taste of domestic cricket abroad with the Perth Scorchers in the Women’s Big Bash League in Australia.
Brunt is one of nine centrally contracted England internationals taking part in the inaugural women's limited overs competition Down Under.
The 30-year-old's home matches are at the famous WACA [Western Australian Cricket Association] stadium which offers a surface ideally suited to the England fast bowler.
"I've never played domestic cricket abroad so it has been a big eye-opener for me playing alongside the Aussies and with some big international names," Brunt told Sky Sports News HQ.
"It has been a massive learning experience for me so far and I'm sure it will continue to be.
"It's been quite difficult to adjust to the pitches batting-wise but bowling-wise I am accustomed to that and obviously the WACA is nice for seam bowling, so I am just going to enjoy this time while I can."
Despite being away from her family during the festive period, Brunt had England all-rounder Nat Sciver for company on Christmas Day. Sciver turns out for Big Bash side Melbourne Stars who provide the opposition for Perth on Boxing Day.
"It should be a competitive one and we get to play at the WACA as well which is really exciting so it should be good fun tomorrow being on different teams for a change," she said.
Brunt added: "We're both very competitive, especially with each other, so there will be no holding back."
