England travel to India for five-match Test series

England will end 2016 with their first five-match Test series against India for over 20 years, the ECB have announced.

Captain Alastair Cook and his players will be aiming to replicate their 2012/13 series win over India when they travel to the subcontinent later this year, with the first Test to take place in Rajkot on November 9.

England will then go to Vishakapatnam (November 17), Mohali (November 26), Mumbai (December 8) and Chennai (December 16).

It will be the first time England have travelled to India for a five match Test series since 1984/85 when they triumphed 2-1.

Following the Test series, England open 2017 with three One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals against their hosts, beginning with the first ODI in Pune on January 15.

Andrew Strauss, director of England Cricket, said: "This promises to be a historic Test series - the first five-Test rubber England have played in India since 1984-85 and a great opportunity for Alastair Cook and his players to repeat the memorable Test series win we enjoyed on our last trip to India in 2012.

"Equally, Eoin Morgan's white-ball squad will be anticipating hard-fought and competitive encounters against high-quality opposition in both formats - with the one-day series providing excellent preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy to come at home later in the summer of 2017. "

England Test Tour to India 2016:

1st Test Match: Rajkot, 9-13 November.

2nd Test Match: Vishakapatnam, 17-21 November.   

3rd Test Match: Mohali, 26-30 November. 

4th Test Match: Mumbai, 8-12 December. 

5th Test Match: Chennai, 16-20 December.

One-day warm up match:  Mumbai CCI, 10 January. 

One-day warm up match:  Mumbai CCI, 12 January.

1st ODI: Pune, 15 January.

2nd ODI: Cuttack, 19 January.          

3rd ODI: Kolkata, 22 January. 

1st IT20: Kanpur, 26 January. 

2nd IT20: Nagpur, 29 January.

3rd IT20: Bangalore: 1 February.
