England head coach Trevor Bayliss was not pleased with his team's performance in the loss to Pakistan

England coach Trevor Bayliss said his team "played like pretty boys" in their comprehensive T20 defeat to Pakistan.

Pakistan ended their tour in glorious fashion with a nine-wicket win at Old Trafford on Wednesday night as they comfortably passed England's total of 135 with 31 balls to spare.

And Bayliss was scathing in his assessment of the team's performance in their final match before the proposed tour to Bangladesh in October.

"The way we were going allowed Pakistan to get on top. We didn't show urgency with our running," he said.

"We played like pretty boys at one stage. We want to win every game. You can coach all you want but it's got to come from within.

"The ceiling is still very high. We're still looking at how well we can play. We're looking at how we can become a bit more consistent."

Captain Eoin Morgan adopted a more positive assessment of the game, stating his belief that the conditions played a big part in the loss.

When asked why England lost so badly - their second defeat in four days at the end of a previously unbeaten white-ball summer - Morgan was emphatic.

"It was conditions," he said. "I think they changed quite dramatically throughout the game.

"With the benefit of hindsight, I probably would have bowled first and chased in the evening - given how much dew there was about. They certainly batted on a different wicket than we did."

Former England captain Nasser Hussain, who conducted the interview for Sky Sports, said: "Bayliss was ticking.

"I think he wanted to swear at one point but he couldn't. the players were hurting - you could see that as they walked past us.

"There is a type of pattern developing. They lost their last Ashes Test, their last Test against South Africa, and again against Pakistan away and at home. They lost the last ODI and the last game of the summer.

"It's like they can't keep their foot down and be ruthless. Remember, this is the side that was four balls away from being World T20 Champions. They were completely out-played."
