Australia have been handed a major boost ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy after Marcus Stoinis was passed fit for the tournament.
The 27-year-old all-rounder suffered a shoulder injury while playing for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League earlier this month but has now been cleared to play in the upcoming international tournament in England.
Stoinis injured his shoulder diving for a ball while warming-up for a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 5.
However, he has recovered in time to be selected by Australia after proving his fitness at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane.
On Wednesday, a Cricket Australia spokesperson said: "He bowled today and the medical staff were happy with his progress."
Stoinis is now set to travel with several other members of the Australia squad from Brisbane to London on Thursday night.
Darren Lehmann's side play their first warm-up game against Sri Lanka at The Oval on May 26, before they face Pakistan in a second warm-up match at Edgbaston on May 29.
Australia will remain in Birmingham to take on New Zealand in their opening game of the tournament on June 2, before completing their Group A fixtures against England and Bangladesh.
