Retired cricketer says he was neglected

Former Test cricketer Nathan Bracken is suing Cricket Australia for negligence, according to reports Down Under. Left-arm seamer Bracken is arguing that the governing body failed to adequately deal with a knee injury that subsequently destroyed his career. The 34-year-old, who played five Tests and 116 one-day internationals for his country, is claiming that Cricket Australia failed to "investigate, diagnose and treat" a knee injury suffered in 2007. Bracken has reportedly produced a statement claiming that two doctors and a physiotherapist working for Cricket Australia should have recognised from MRI scans that arthroscopic surgery was vital. The former cricketer also alleges that the governing body failed to refer him for added examinations by a specialist orthopaedic surgeon and did not restrict his training regime. Cricket Australia is reported to have confirmed that legal action is underway, but said it could not comment on the matter. Bracken played for New South Wales and Gloucestershire as well as his country before announcing his retirement last month.
