England started the day on 343-7 in their first innings, with Moeen and Stuart Broad looking for quick runs.

Broad again got under the skin of the Australians, after it looked like Adam Voges had caught him at short-leg off Mitchell Johnson, but the catch was shown to have been grounded on replay.

When eventually all out for 430, England reduced Australia to 264-5 by the close, with Moeen taking the crucial wickets of Steve Smith and captain Michael Clarke.

England's skipper Alastair Cook was also in the thick of the action, taking a terrific catch at slip off Jimmy Anderson to get rid of David Warner, and also suffering a painful groin injury while in the slips.
