Ashes 2015: Ian Botham and Shane Warne pick England team for Edgbaston

Should Root move up order? Should Ballance be dropped?

England's Gary Ballance out for 14 during day four of the Second Investec Ashes Test at Lord's, London.

Plenty of England’s players are under the microscope after the team’s capitulation in the second Ashes Test at Lord’s.

Adam Lyth, Gary Ballance and Ian Bell’s positions have come into question with the trio scoring a combined 56 runs at the Home of Cricket as England sunk to an emphatic loss inside four days.

But are changes needed ahead of the third Test at Edgbaston from July 29? Sir Ian Botham and Shane Warne joined Ian Ward at the SkyCart to reveal what sides they would pick in Birmingham.

Beefy was adamant that Joe Root should be moved up to No 3: “Root is continually getting left with nine, 10, jack and I think he should step up to give Australia something to think about. The best players bat at three, think of Sir Viv Richards, Ricky Ponting, Javed Miandad."

Warne, however, believes senior player Bell should come in at the fall of the first wicket, while he also revealed why he would pick spinner Adil Rashid in place of the out-of-sorts Ballance.
