Australia's Mitchell Starc says that Chris Rogers has been facing balls in the nets and he expects the opener to be in the side at Edgbaston.

Chris Rogers took a full part in Australia’s training session at Edgbaston on Monday morning and looks likely to play in the third Investec Ashes Test with England on Wednesday.

Rogers was involved in the entire session and did not show any apparent signs of the dizziness which forced him off the field during Australia’s victory at Lord's in the second Test.

He faced three fast bowlers – Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood – in the nets with no obvious problems.

Rogers had to retire on 49 not out at Lord’s after complaining of feeling dizzy and imagining the grandstand was moving. He was hit in the head by a James Anderson ball two days before.

Should the Aussies decide not to risk Rogers, who has been in magnificent form in the series, Shaun Marsh will replace him in the line-up at Edgbaston.

Starc is confident Rogers will be there as the tourists attempt to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

"We all had a bowl at him," said Starc. "He seems to have come through it pretty well. I haven't seen him since the net but all reports are that he is good to go.

"I think he will have another hit tomorrow (Tuesday), and seems to be good."

And Starc said the three quicks did not hold back when bowling to Rogers in practice.

“No, it’s full-tilt regardless who is at the other end, and we’re all preparing for a Test match. So if he runs at full-tilt and he gets through that then he’s ready to go.

“So no one is holding back at all, no matter who is the other end.”
