Pakistan coach Waqar Younis has backed Mohammad Amir returning to international cricket following his five-year suspension for spot-fixing.
The fast bowler's international ban ended in September and he is currently playing in the Bangladesh Twenty20 League for the Chittagong Vikings.
All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez turned down an offer to play for the Vikings as he felt uncomfortable about the prospect of sharing the same dressing room with Amir.
Younis held talks over the bowler's future with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan.
And he has been impressed with the 23-year-old's return to form and believes he deserves another chance.
"[Amir] has served his punishment and he deserves to come back in the [cricketing] community and enhance his profession," Younis said.
"He is in very good form ... he has proved to the ICC and he has proved to the PCB that he is on the right track, and it's our responsibility that we should give him another opportunity."
Amir pleaded guilty to bowing two no-balls in a Test match against England at Lord's in 2010 and served three months in a young offender institution in England.
The other team-mates in the scandal, captain Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif, had their bans lifted in September.
All three are going through the PCB's rehabilitation program which includes giving lectures to young players.
Amir, who has taken nine wickets in seven matches for Chittagong Vikings, could make his international return when Pakistan tour England in July 2016.
