Pakistan will re-assess paceman's injury after Test series

Pakistan remain hopeful that Umar Gul will recover from a torn hamstring in time for the limited-overs section of the tour of England. Gul sustained the problem during the second Test at Edgbaston and will definitely miss the final two Tests of the series. Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed said the fast bowler will be re-assessed on August 18 to determine his involvement in the two T20 internationals and five one-day internationals, which take place from September 5-22. "We are hoping he will be available for the Twenty20 and one-day series next month," said Saeed. Pakistan, who are 2-0 down in the Test series after a nine-wicket loss at Edgbaston, have decided against flying out a replacement for Gul ahead of the third Test at the Oval (Aug 18-22) and fourth Test at Lord's (Aug 26-30). Gul's injury means either Wahab Riaz or Tanvir Ahmed is likely to make their Test debut at the Oval.
