Patel back in ODI fold after six-year absence

Zaheer Khan has been passed fit to play in the remainder of India's one-day international series against New Zealand. The left-arm paceman missed the opening two matches of the five-game series due to a groin strain. But his recovery is ahead of schedule and he will be available for the remaining fixtures on December 4, 7 and 10. Medium pacer Praveen Kumar also returns after a bout of fever, while middle-order batsman Suresh Raina has been given a rest ahead of the tour of South Africa, starting later in December.

Patel recall

On the wicketkeeping front, Parthiv Patel makes his comeback to the one-day side after a gap of six years. Patel will get his chance in the fourth and fifth games, due to be played in Bangalore and Chennai respectively, with current gloveman Wriddhiman Saha maintaining his place for Saturday's ODI in Baroda. India currently hold a 2-0 lead in the series.
