Yuvraj Singh will return to action for the first time since batting cancer when India take on New Zealand in a two-match Twenty20 series. The all-rounder underwent chemotherapy in the United States in March to treat a rare germ-cell tumour between his lungs. Yuvraj has not played competitive cricket since last November when he appeared in two home Tests against the West Indies . But the 30-year-old, who was man of the tournament in India's World Cup triumph last year, was recalled after he was declared fit by doctors at the national Cricket Academy in Bangalore. "It is hard to believe that I will be back playing again," he said. "A few months back I had trouble climbing four steps, now I can't wait to take the field. It is like starting a new life." Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh added: "Now this is what we call a comeback. "There can't be a bigger inspiration in cricket than Yuvi. It is a privilege to be back in the dressing room with him." The series kicks-off on Thursday at Visakhapatnam, with the second match due to take place in Chennai on Tuesday September 11. Both side's wi9ll be using the matches as a warm for the World Twenty20 starting in Sri Lanka on September 18. New Zealand will be boosted by the return of influential all-rounder and former captain Daniel Vettori, who missed the Tests due to a groin injury. And, after being whitewashed 2-0 in the recent Test series, the Black Caps will be hoping to end their Indian tour on a high with victories in the Twenty20 games "We are here to win but whatever happens," said fellow all-rounder Jacob Oram, who also did not play in the Tests. "We have to make sure we learn from the series because it's great preparation. "You are not going to get a tougher competition than playing India in India. Fifty-over champs but perennial T20 favourites as well."
