Maharoof and Welegedara back for tri-nation series in Australia

Sri Lanka have recalled both Farveez Maharoof and Chanaka Welegedara for the tri-nation one-day international series in Australia next month. All-rounder Maharoof and left-arm seamer Welegedara have not featured for the ODI team since June 2010, but they are now set to take part in a series that also involves world champions India. Kosala Kulasekara and Dilhara Fernando are omitted from the squad that suffered a 3-2 defeat in South Africa, while Mahela Jayawardene has been reappointed as captain following the resignation of Tillakaratne Dilshan. Angelo Mathews has retained the vice-captaincy for the tournament, which starts on February 5 when hosts Australia take on India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Meanwhile, it is understood that Sri Lanka Cricket will open talks with Graham Ford this week over replacing Geoff Marsh as head coach.
