David Lloyd hailed the captain's knock by Eoin Morgan as the England skipper scored a century in their 45-run win over the West Indies in the first one-day international, in Antigua.

Morgan's 107, off 116 balls, was his 10th ODI ton, and continues his fabulous form in 2017, with two hundreds to his name already this year and an average of 70.

Sam Billings (52) and Ben Stokes (55) also contributed with fifties as England posted 296-6 from their 50 overs, a total that proved to be out of the reach of their hosts.

"It was a real captain's knock by Morgan today," said Lloyd. "I was so impressed with England.

Highlights from the 1st ODI between West Indies and England in Antigua

"England always say 'we go at it, we go at it' but they didn't do that with the bat today, they assessed the conditions brilliantly, particularly Morgan.

"He took his time, and then bang, off he went!

"It's wasn't easy right at the beginning, having to bat on a tacky sort of pitch due to all the rain that we had ahead of the game.

"Billings played well at the top too, he was nice and busy.

"The partnership between him and Morgan is so pleasing as a captain or a coach - you know you need a century and supporting innings'.

"England got that and then they were away. A score of around 300 is exactly what they would have been targeting and it proved to be too much."
