Former England man brings experience to Bears
Warwickshire have signed former England leg spinner Ian Salisbury on a two-year deal.
The 37-year-old moves to Edgbaston after being released by Surrey at the end of the 2007 domestic season.
His arrival will help bolster a Bears attack that will have to do without the retired trio Heath Streak, Alex Loudon and Dougie Brown next year.
New director of cricket Ashley Giles feels Salisbury's experience will be vital as they look for a quick return to the top division of the County Championship.
Great asset
"Sals will add some much needed experience back into our squad," said Giles.
"The retirements of Heath Streak and Dougie Brown have left the current squad light in this regard and I know a player of Ian's calibre will be a great asset to both the club and the team.
"He has knowledge of the game in all formats. He will be a great help to the younger players and those coming through the Academy in the spin bowling department."
Fresh start
Salisbury, who started out at Sussex, is looking forward to a new challenge towards the end of a career that included 15 Test appearances for his country.
"I have been lucky enough to play at two fantastic clubs during my career and it will be brilliant to finish at another fantastic club," he said.
"It will be a new start under Ashley and I am fully behind him and look forward to playing and helping develop the youngsters in this new era for the club. "
