Kent spinner Min Patel has been forced to retire from first-class cricket after admitting defeat in his battle against injuries.
Indian-born Patel, who won two cap for England in 1996, has spent 19 years with the Spitfires - however injuries have finally taken their toll.
Patel has had reconstruction surgery on both knees, while his appearances last season were limited after shoulder, neck and elbow problems.
And Patel knows that the time is right to finally call it day.
He told the club's official website: "It has been an honour to represent Kent for the best part of 20 years.
"While I feel mentally capable of carrying on, the body has said that 'enough is enough!'
Success
"I would like to thank the whole of the organisation (from management to players and all the backroom staff) for their support.
"I wish Rob Key and his team continued success on the field and hope they build on a terrific 2007, and to Graham Johnson and his team on their goal of taking Kent to new heights off the field."
Kent captain Key paid tribute to a player he class as an "inspiration".
Key added: "Min has been ever present in the Kent side since I joined the club.
"He has been an inspiration to others throughout his career and there are many cricketers within Kent and beyond who have benefited from his knowledge and advice.
"I am personally most grateful to him for the help and support he has given me, particularly during my time as captain."
