Last-eight tie moved back 24 hours by the weather

The Friends Provident Trophy quarter-final between Kent and Somerset has been postponed due to rain. The game was due to get underway on Wednesday, however despite the best efforts of the groundstaff at the St Lawrence Ground, more rain has made the pitch unplayable. The game has now been moved back 24 hours to Thursday with Kent switching the tie to Beckenham in a bid to get the game played. Should no play be possible, then the result of the quarter-final will either be decided by a bowl-out or by the toss of a coin. Somerset captain Justin Langer told Sky Sports News he remained hopefully of avoiding either of those scenarios. "For a quarter-final it is most disappointing, so hopefully we can get a game somewhere," he said. "It will be a shame for it to be reduced to a shorter version of the game and definitely a shame for it to be reduced to a bowl out. Hopefully we will get it played. "From all accounts they have had a lot of rain here and there is nothing we can do about that."
