Yorkshire have been told they can use Rana Naved-ul-Hasan this season despite his involvement in the Indian Cricket League. However, the organisers of the season-ending ICC Champions League, led by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, say he must not play in the Twenty20 Cup. The finalists of the domestic competition are invited to take part in the lucrative Champions League with other successful clubs from around the world, although last year's finalists Kent were barred for fielding two former ICL players. The event was subsequently cancelled by organisers following the terrorist attacks in Mumbai. The Pakistan bowler will therefore return to Headingley for a second season but will not be taking part in the shortest format of the game. The county will not be seeking a replacement. "I'm very pleased that this issue has been resolved and look forward to working with Rana again in 2009," said director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon. "He has been playing domestic cricket in Pakistan during the winter and is match fit and raring to go. "I've every confidence that our squad is strong enough to do well in the competition this season without an overseas player - it's a great chance for someone else to put their hand up and stake a claim."
