England's talisman may be back for one-dayers

Andrew Flintoff has been ruled out of next week's fifth Test with a hip injury and will be flying home. The England all-rounder picked up the injury in last week's drawn Test in Antigua and was not available for selection for the fourth Test, which got under way on Thursday in Barbados. But it had been hoped he would be fit to return for the series climax in Trinidad next week. However, the England and Wales Cricket Board have confirmed that he will head home later on Friday, but with a view to returning on March 10 for the one-day series, fitness permitting. England managing director Hugh Morris said: "We're determined that we are going to do everything possible to get Andrew fit for the one-day international series which starts in a couple of weeks' time. "We feel that Andrew's rehabilitation will be best served by him going home for that period of time." Morris added that England's chief medical officer Dr. Nick Peirce and his team will oversee Flintoff's recovery over the next two weeks. England are set to play a Twenty20 international against the West Indies on March 15, with the five-match ODI series beginning on March 20.
