Ireland have continued their unbeaten World Cup qualifying campaign in South Africa with an emphatic 116-run win over Oman. Regan West took figures of 5-26 to scoop the man-of-the-match award, Ireland also taking just 37 overs to bowl out their opposition for 169. Batting first, Ireland set Oman a target of 285 at the Stan Friedman Oval in Krugersdorp. Kevin O'Brien hit an unbeaten 101, the Middlesex all-rounder combining with Andrew White in a fifth-wicket partnership of 174. Oman openers Zeeshan Siddiqui and Nilesh Parmar got to 98 before Parmar was bowled by West for 41. Siddiqui (48) was Oman's best batsman before he was also bowled by West for his third wicket. Oman then collapsed, losing eight wickets for just 71 - Peter Connell taking 3-17. Ireland now face Uganda on Saturday in Krugersdorp their third qualifying match.

Giantkilling

Meanwhile, Afghanistan performed another giantkilling act after scoring a 60-run victory over Bermuda in Potchefstroom. Following their five-wicket triumph over Denmark, it was the war-torn country's second victory in as many days. They now look set to reach the Super Eights phase, with the top four finishers there securing places at the 2011 World Cup, to be held in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
