Proteas pick six new faces

South Africa have included six uncapped players in their 30-man squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in June.

South Africa have included six uncapped players in their preliminary 30-man squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in June. Henry Davids, CJ de Villiers, Friedel de Wet, Arno Jacobs, Heino Kuhn and Daryn Smit are the new faces to be selected by the selection panel. Alviro Petersen, who has not featured for the Proteas in 20-over cricket but has played in five one-day internationals, is also included. Roelof van der Merwe and Yusuf Abdulla are on the list after both made impressive debuts against Australia recently. Lonwabo Tsotsobe is selected in the hope that he will return from surgery in time to take part in the event in England. There is also a place for Jacques Kallis. The all-rounder was surprisingly left out of South Africa's squad for the 2007 competition on home soil. Cricket South Africa will reduce the group to a final 15-man party in May.
