Kent director of cricket to return home at the end of the season

Kent director of cricket Graham Ford has agreed to become the new coach of South African franchise the Dolphins. Former South Africa chief Ford had been linked to the England coaching position earlier in the year - but pulled out of the running after criticising the whole process. The 48-year-old, who helped Kent to the Twenty20 Cup title in 2007, will now return to Durban to replace Yashin Hassan at the Dolphins. However he will be back at Canterbury for the 2010 season, with Ford still having a year to run on his current deal. "I am excited at the prospect of Graham taking over as head coach as he brings with him a wealth of experience and is familiar with our structures and players," Cassim Docrat, the chief executive officer of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Cricket Union said. "With the accumulated experience that Yashin has gained over the past eight years with the KZN Amateur team, the National Academy and the Nashua Dolphins, he plays an important role in bringing forward youngsters within our system."
