South African cleared to join Derbyshire after obtaining work permit

Derbyshire have been cleared to hand South African pace bowler Nantie Hayward his debut after he obtained his visa and arrived in the country. The 32-year-old has previously played county cricket for Hampshire, Middlesex and Worcestershire in the past, and is now poised to join his fourth side in England. Hayward could make his debut in the Twenty20 Cup match against Durham on June 23. Hayward, who has joined Derbyshire as a Kolpak player, played 16 Tests and 21 one-day internationals for South Africa. "I was chuffed to get the call from Derbyshire, now I am very glad to be here and raring to go," said Hayward. "I already have the experience of county cricket and I know what happens at all of the county grounds so that should help me a lot. "I have changed a bit, I have learnt to take a little bit of pace off and to concentrate more on getting balls in the right area and trying to get guys caught behind. "In situations where we don't need to worry about conceding too many runs though I will still let it go."
