Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq will miss the remaining ODIs against New Zealand because of a hamstring injury.

The 40-year-old sustained the injury during Friday's second day-nighter against the Black Caps in Sharjah and will stay on in the United Arab Emirates to undergo rehabilitation.

"It is a setback," said team manager Moin Khan. "He has been advised to take a three to four week rest and will do his rehab under our physio Brad Robinson in UAE."

Khan said Misbah is required to be at hand for consultation in selecting the final 15-man squad for next year's World Cup.

"Misbah is the announced captain for the World Cup so we needed him at hand to discuss combinations for the World Cup and he would also be able to watch the players in the series," said Khan, also the chief selector.

"Misbah has always been keen on fitness and determined to recover in time so we hope he will have a speedy recovery."
