Jolyon Palmer will become the latest British driver to have a crack at F1 as he prepares for his debut season in the sport with Renault.
The 25-year-old, who was born in Horsham in 1991, will line up on the 2016 grid alongside fellow Brits Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.
Palmer enjoyed a successful early career in motor racing, working his way from T Cars (2005-07), Formula Palmer Audi (2007-08) and Formula Two (2009-10), before joining GP2 in 2011.
Palmer then became the GP2 champion in 2014 with the DAMS team, before getting into an F1 car for the first time in November of that year as he drove for Force India in Abu Dhabi testing.
In January 2015 Palmer signed as a test and reserve driver for Lotus F1, as backup to Pastor Maldonado and Romain Grosjean, driving in pre-season testing and various free practice sessions throughout the season.
And following Renault's takeover of Lotus ahead of the 2016 season, Palmer was announced as a driver alongside Kevin Magnussen.
