F1 confirms no positive coronavirus tests ahead of Styrian GP

4,566 drivers, teams and personnel tested ahead of Styrian GP; Extensive F1 protocols in place at Red Bull Ring

F1 and the FIA have confirmed there have been no positive coronavirus cases following the latest round of testing ahead of the Styrian GP.

The F1 season is continuing in Austria this weekend amid strict COVID-19 safety protocols at the Red Bull Ring, with private testing being carried out on all personnel before arriving at the venue and then every five days.

From July 3 to July 9, 4,566 tests were carried out on drivers, teams and personnel, with no positive results.

"The FIA and Formula 1 can today confirm that between Friday 3rd July and Thursday 9th July, 4566 tests for COVID-19 have been performed on drivers, teams and personnel," read an F1 statement.

"Of these, zero people have tested positive.

"The FIA and Formula 1 are providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency.

"No specific details as to teams or individuals will be provided by the FIA or Formula 1 and results will be made public every 7 days."

It is the second time F1 has announced their test results from Austria, with 4,032 negative tests confirmed before the season started at the same Spielberg circuit last weekend.

All personnel on site are being kept in 'bubbles' throughout the event with F1 operating a biosphere in Austria, before the sport moves on to Hungary next weekend.

The wearing of face masks is mandatory in the paddock with distancing rules also in place.
