James Horan excited by Mayo potential

James Horan says he is excited by Mayo's potential as he bids to become the county's manager for a second time.
Horan is set to be appointed as manager of the Mayo senior footballers once again. He last managed the county for four seasons, reaching the All-Ireland final in 2012 and 2013, losing to Donegal and Dublin.
As the Connacht team look to end their wait for an All-Ireland title stretching back to 1951, they are likely turning to Horan to succeed Stephen Rochford.
The Westport manager saw his club side fall to Breaffy by a single point this weekend, and in the aftermath discussed the intercounty job with The Western People.
"I'm a Mayo man, I love coaching, I'm involved in coaching for a number of years now," said Horan. "There's a very good team there and I just think it's a very good time in Mayo football. We have a centre of excellence being developed, we've some very good underage players coming through.
"If you squash that in with the experience that's there, I just think that there's possibly exciting times and I'd just love to help them in some way."
After their shock loss to Kildare in this year's qualifiers, Mayo will be eager to bounce back and with Horan at the helm, many will fancy them to do just that.
