Businessman JP McManus has donated €100,000 to every GAA county board in the country.
The Limerick native has been a long-time backer of the Treaty, and was on hand to watch John Kiely's side to end 45 years of hurt and claim the Liam MacCarthy Cup last month.
Having followed them through thick and thin, there were joyous scenes at Croke Park as he was invited into the winning dressing room after full-time and presented with the Liam MacCarthy Cup at full-time.
McManus is a major sports fan, having previously held a significant stake in Manchester United, and is also a keen golfer.
RTÉ have reported on Monday that McManus has donated €3.2m to GAA county boards, divided evenly across each county. The racehorse owner's donation is set to be distributed equally among all clubs in each county.
The GAA have described the move as 'unprecedented' and it will come as a huge boost particularly to smaller counties.
