How the final round of matches unfolded on the last day of the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor.
We look at how the 12 singles matches unfolded
The 2010 Ryder Cup was decided by the 12 singles matches as play was extended to the Monday at Celtic Manor.
We look at how each of the matches unfolded...
LEE WESTWOOD lost to STEVE STRICKER 2&1
New world number two Westwood came back from a bogey on the short fifth with winning birdies on the next two, but missed chances to stretch his advantage before matching Stricker's birdie at the long ninth.
The 562-yard 11th was shared in birdies as well - Westwood almost made a 50-footer for eagle - but Stricker also birdied the next and Europe's leading light went in the water at the next to fall behind again.
An 18-foot eagle putt after both had drive the green on the 15th made it two up with three to play and two halves after that settled it.
RORY McILROY halved with STEWART CINK
McIlroy took the first two holes, but was in the hazard at the fifth as he lost the next three and turned one down still.
A 10-footer at the long 11th was needed to keep it that way before McIlroy hit his approach to the 12th to a foot and levelled. But he followed Westwood into the lake at the next.
Cink was favourite to take the 15th after driving the green, but three-putted after the 21-year-old got up and down from a bunker. They shared the next two, Cink missing from six feet at the 17th, and McIlroy saved a half after splashing out of a greenside bunker at the second attempt to five feet and making it.
LUKE DONALD bt JIM FURYK 1 hole
Facing the man who deprived him of a £7million jackpot eight days earlier, Donald went three up after six and kept it to the turn, which he reached in 33.
He started the back nine by three-putting, but made glorious amends with back-to-back 20-footers for halves. Furyk then three-putted the 13th, only for Donald to bogey the next.
He salvaged a great half from the edge of the hazard at the 15th, Furyk birdied the next from 18 feet, but pushing a pitch into the bunker on the last cost the American dear. Donald two-putted to win.
MARTIN KAYMER lost to DUSTIN JOHNSON 6&4
Three bogeys in the first five left Kaymer two down to the player whose rules blunder helped him win the USPGA in August, but a pitch to four feet on the ninth halved the deficit.
Kaymer started the inward half with a further bogey, lost the 11th as well to a birdie and Johnson, without a point in his first three games, made it four in a row - and no birdies in the first 10 holes - to register the opening win of the day for the visitors.
IAN POULTER bt MATT KUCHAR 5&4
Poulter holed from 35 feet at the third and took the fifth as well when Kuchar's second rolled into the water. Another American bogey on the 210-yard 10th stretch the difference to three.
Top-scorer with four points out of five two years ago, Poulter chipped in for eagle at the 11th and after losing the next to a birdie came roaring back with two of his own to take Europe into double figures.
He finished this match with three points out of four - and sent Kuchar to his first defeat on his debut.
MIGUEL ANGEL JIMENEZ bt BUBBA WATSON 4&3
Jimenez won his first Ryder Cup singles match to see off rookie Watson.
The Spaniard, who has lost his last three singles matches in the Ryder Cup, birdied four of the last seven holes to put the hosts two points away from victory.
After overcoming Watson and fellow rookie Jeff Overton in the fourballs the previous day, Jimenez picked up where he left off with a birdie at the first.
Watson responded in kind with a four on the par-five second, and the two players were locked at all square after seven holes.
But it was from this point on that Jimenez raced clear, birdies at eight and nine putting him in control, and further shots gained at 11 and 15 sealing the win.
FRANCESCO MOLINARI lost to TIGER WOODS 4&3
Sent out eighth by US skipper Corey Pavin, world number one Woods made a slow start before overwhelming his rookie opponent with a back-nine birdie spree.
Molinari was two up after five holes after starting with back-to-back birdies and adding another at the fifth.
But that was the high point of the day for the Italian, Woods birdieing the sixth and 10th to get back to all-square and then turning the screw.
Molinari's pars were not good enough as further birdies from Woods at the next four saw him race four up.
And, after the 14th was halved in par fours, Woods sealed the result in style with an eagle two at the 15th after driving the 377-yard par four and holing the putt.
Woods, who required a wildcard pick from Pavin to make the team after a turbulent year, finished with three points out of a possible four.
ROSS FISHER lost to JEFF OVERTON 3&2
Overton rounded out an impressive Ryder Cup debut with victory over fellow rookie Ross Fisher.
The American clinched a third point at Celtic Manor, though he was helped out by his opponent suffering a back-nine meltdown.
Having been two up at the turn, Fisher dramatically folded. He carded four bogeys from the 11th onwards, the last of them gifting Overton victory.
PETER HANSON lost to PHILE MICKELSON 4&2
Mickelson earned his first point of the Ryder Cup by beating Hanson.
Masters champion Mickelson took advantage of an erratic start from Hanson to move four up after four, a lead he never came close to surrendering.
Hanson, the Swedish rookie, staged a mini-revival with back-to-back birdies at the fifth and sixth halving his deficit.
But he ran up his second seven of the day at the par-five ninth - he had done the same at the second, also a par five - to fall three down at the turn.
And, despite losing the par-three 10th to a two, Mickelson went dormie four courtesy of birdies at the 11th and 14th.
Hanson won the par-four 15th after driving the green but Mickelson was offering his hand at the next after rolling in a birdie putt.
EDOARDO MOLINARI halved with RICKIE FOWLER
Rickie Fowler completes a stunning comeback from four down with six to play and three down with three to go to half with Edoardo Molinari
His closing 18-foot birdie putt made it 13 1/2-12 1/2.
PADRAIG HARRINGTON lost to ZACH JOHNSON 3&2
Johnson clinched victory over Padraig Harrington, but it wasn't enough to prevent USA sliding to a narrow defeat.
In the penultimate match of the event, Johnson reeled off seven birdies in a blistering round as Harrington suffered his second loss from four matches.
The Irishman gifted Johnson a two-shot lead with back-to-back bogeys on the first two holes, however birdies at three and five brought the match back to all square.
But from holes six to 13 Johnson powered clear, carding five birdies to make victory a formality.
Harington battled back after a rare blemish from the American on 15, however a 15-foot par putt on 16 sealed the win.
GRAEME McDOWELL beat HUNTER MAHAN 3&1
US Open champion McDowell's victory over Mahan gave Europe a dramatic 14 1/2 to 13 1/2 triumph over the United States to regain the trophy.
Not since 1991 at Kiawah Island had the Ryder Cup been decided in such breathtaking fashion by the last of 12 singles matches.
A brilliant putt by McDowell on 16 left Mahan needing to win the last two holes for a half that would have denied Europe, but Mahan scuffed his second shot after firing short of the green off the tee on the par-three 17th.
That meant that at worst McDowell needed to get down in two from the edge of the green under unbearable pressure in front of 35,000 fans, but Mahan then missed his putt, conceded the match, and Europe began wild celebrations.
