Duncan Stewart missed the cut at the Hero Indian Open, but at least he left New Delhi with a new car after making a superb hole-in-one

Duncan Stewart may not have earned any prize money after missing the cut at the Hero Indian Open, but he had the consolation of winning a brand new car for a hole-in-one.

Stewart needed a strong finish to make it into final 36 holes when he resumed his second round early on day three of the weather-delayed event at the DLF Golf and Country Club in New Delhi.

The Scot was well outside the cut mark when he arrived at the par-three fifth hole - his 14th - and he admitted he was "in between clubs" as he lined up his tee shot.

Stewart opted for a six-iron for the 178-yard shot, and it proved an astute choice as he flushed it arrow straight over the water before his ball took a soft bounce just short of the target and hopped into the cup for his second ace in a European Tour event.

Unfortunately, Stewart bogeyed the seventh and a birdie-par finish saw him miss the halfway cut by one stroke, but he was soon all smiles as he was presented with the keys to a powerful BMW M3 sports car.
