Spain's Alejandro Canizares birdied the final two holes for a third-round 68 and a one-shot lead in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
Spain's Sergio Garcia will start the final round four shots off the pace as he bids to end a trying week on a high. Garcia made a bogey on the first, but the 33-year-old birdied the fourth, fifth and ninth to be out in 33. Further birdies followed at the 12th and 13th and after a three-putt bogey on the 14th, the Ryder Cup star finished with a birdie on the 18th. "I hit a terrible shot on the first after a great tee shot, but other than that I hit a lot of good shots," said Garcia, who had not played in the European Tour's flagship event since 2000. "I didn't really putt that well. I'm struggling a little with the pace of the greens and missed a couple of short putts today. "I think it's been a tough week but we've been getting better every day, so hopefully we can finish on a high note tomorrow. "There's no doubt that everybody has made it so much easier for me. The crowds here, I don't have words to explain what I feel towards them. They have been amazing, every single tee, every single green, cheering me on. I can never pay them back."
