Ian Poulter heads into the Accenture Match Play Championship feeling very positive about his chances.
The Englishman has made more headlines this year through his provocative comments about Tiger Woods rather than his results on the course, but is looking forward to pitting his wits against Woods and the rest of the world's elite in Arizona.
The 32-year-old is never short on confidence and perhaps unsurprisingly is looking forward to the challenge of one-on-one competition.
He faces Dane Soren Hansen in the first round on Wednesday but insists he will be focusing solely on his own game rather than fretting about the strengths of his opponent.
"I worry about my game and I feel good right now," he declared.
"You're under pressure right from the start. In stroke play, you've got four days to slowly get into contention. In match play, you've got no time to get into contention.
"You have to win. It just makes you concentrate harder, which is great."
Poulter spent last week preparing at his club manufacturer's testing facility in Southern California and admits he was able to fine-tune his game with one or two little changes he plans to implement this week.
"It's good to see what's happening with your swing, your club and that ball," he added.
"It's very interesting to see how the ball is moving, to make sure your driver is right, the spin rate is right. It's easy to tune up your game in that environment.
"When you've got all the data stacked up for you, it makes it easy. I found out some very interesting things, stuff to work on.
"I'm doing a slightly different manoeuvre with the driver to try to hit it a little further, just a very slight swing change."
