Teenager to take on big-guns in Shanghai

Japanese teenage sensation Ryo Ishikawa has been cleared to take part in the WGC HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai next month. The 18-year-old was due to play in a Japanese Tour event that runs parallel to the November 5-8 feature, but has been given the go-ahead by his sponsors to join the star-studded line-up at the Sheshan International. The $7m event, which will be headed by world number one Tiger Woods, has been included as part of the World Golf Championship list of events for the first time this year. Ishikawa, who turned professional last year, became eligible for the event by winning the Tokai Classic earlier this month, his fourth title of the year and sixth overall. "The prize money will be huge and it will be a high-level fight," he said. "I am looking forward to seeing how much I can do out there. "I thank Toyota for supporting me this way. Now I can go to the HSBC Champions feeling good." All four of the players in contention for the Race to Dubai - Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer and Paul Casey, are all likely to play with the Dubai World Championship looming. Sergio Garcia is the defending champion in Shanghai following a play-off win over England's Oliver Wilson 12 months ago.
