The United States celebrates victory at Hazeltine in 2016

Hazeltine will become the first US course to host the Ryder Cup twice when it stages the tournament in 2028.

The course hosted the 2016 Ryder Cup when Davis Love III led the US team to a resounding 17-11 victory.

The team made the announcement in a novel way, enlisting the help of the men's Olympic gold medal winning curling team.

The US team will be hoping for a repeat of the 2016 success which ended a period of European dominance in the biennial event which saw them win eight of the 11 tournaments played since 1995.

There are five Ryder Cups still to play before Hazeltine gets another go, starting with Le Golf National near Paris in September.

The next time the tournament is played in America will be at Wisconsin's Whistling Straits in 2020.

Italy gets a first chance to host in 2022 at the Marco Simone course near Rome.

Europe have yet to announce which courses will host in 2026 and 2030.
