Alberto Contador announces he will make the Giro d'Italia his 'first goal' of 2015

Alberto Contador has announced he will race next spring’s Giro d’Italia.
The 31-year-old Spaniard, who sealed his third Vuelta a Espana title last weekend, broke the news on Twitter.
He wrote: “Waiting for some details, I can announce that my first goal on 2015 will be the Giro d’Italia.”
Contador won the Giro in 2008 – the second of his six Grand Tour wins to date – and then topped the general classification again in 2011, only to have that result expunged due to a backdated doping ban.
The Tinkoff-Saxo rider is widely expected to rival Chris Froome at next summer’s Tour de France, and has also speculated that he may ride all three Grand Tours in 2015.
No rider has ever won all three Grand Tours in a single season, while the last man to win the Giro and Tour in the same year was Marco Pantani in 1998.
The 2015 Giro will take place from May 9-31, starting with a team time trial in San Remo.
