A week in eSports - Manchester City sign eWorld Cup champion

By Yinsu Collins

Last Updated: 11/03/18 9:41pm

Yinsu Collins casts an eye over the past week, as Kingzone continue to dominate and Man City make a major signing.

Match of the Week: SK Telecom T1 v Kingzone DragonX

Kingzone DragonX continued to dominate in the 2018 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split with two easy victories over SK Telecom T1. SKT, who have yet to find their footing in the series, struggled from the outset when faced with a Kingzone side that prospered under the introduction of patch 8.4. After winning the first game in 31 minutes, Kingzone added insult to injury by winning the second in just 26 minutes.

Former SKT jungler Han "Peanut" Wang-Ho, who has mastered the aggressive style of play, made it his mission to make life as difficult as possible for his old side. Finishing the game with a 11/0/6 KDA, Peanut's unstoppable Olaf sealed pole position in the LCK standings for his team. With such a strong roster, it is safe to assume Kingzone will be the one to beat in the playoffs.

Manchester City sign FIFA world champion

Manchester City signed reigning FIFA eWorld Cup champion Kai 'Deto' Wollin. Deto is City's second eSports addition this season following the singing of Marcus 'ExpectSporting' Jorgensen back in December 2017. City revealed Deto, 29, will be representing the club for the first time at the FUT Champions Cup in April.

Deto said: "I am incredibly proud to be a part of this amazing club. I'm extremely happy to be stepping into the next chapter of my eSports career with Manchester City and at such an exciting time for eSports.

"I'm looking forward to getting started in the FUT Champions Cup next month and getting to know the Manchester City fans all over the world."

Gfinity Elite Series Season 3 kicked off in London
