Valentino Rossi takes Sepang penalty case to CAS

Valentino Rossi has lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over the penalty he received for his clash with Marc Marquez in Malaysia.
Rossi was handed three penalty points for colliding with the Honda rider at Sepang, and that was enough to trigger a rear-of-grid start for next weekend's season finale in Valencia.
The Italian leads the title race by seven points from Jorge Lorenzo but said he had 'no chance' of holding on to his advantage and winning an eighth championship - he even threatened not to race in Spain.
But Rossi has now decided to fight the penalty further - his original appeal was thrown out by stewards - and taken his case to CAS, although no date for the hearing has been set.
"In appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Mr Rossi seeks annulment or reduction of the penalty," read a statement from the sport's governing body FIM.
"He further requests stay of execution of the decision in accordance with Article R37 of the Code of Sports-Related Arbitration."
