Repsol Honda have confirmed that Dani Pedrosa suffered a broken collarbone in a crash at the French Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Spaniard fell after contact with Marco Simoncelli during the race at Le Mans, with initial reports stating that he broken the bone.
That injury has now been confirmed after his X-rays were studied in Barcelona, meaning the 25-year-old could be set for a spell on the sidelines.
He has only recently had surgery to remove a plate from the left collarbone he fractured last year and has now broken his other one.
"Immediately following yesterday's race, Dani Pedrosa returned to Barcelona with the X-ray scans from the Le Mans circuit medical centre.
Tests
"He visited his doctors at Teknon Medical Centre and further medical tests confirmed a clean break of the right collarbone.
"Pedrosa spent the night in the hospital, immobilised with a compressive dressing, and will decide in the next few days if he will undergo surgery to repair the fracture with a new plate or let the bone heal itself without intervention.
"In either case, his presence in the Grand Prix of Catalunya, to be held on June 5, is uncertain."
Pedrosa's MotoGP career has been blighted by several injuries and the collarbone fracture he suffered in 2010 caused him to miss three races.
At Le Mans, he was sent tumbling into the gravel when trying a move up the inside of Simoncelli, who was subsequently given a ride-through penalty for an "illegal manoeuvre".
