The defending champion picked up just 17 points in the opening races of the season but finished first, third and second in his Honda Yuasa Racing car in the three races at the Leicestershire course.
The Scot converted his pole into victory in the opening race of the day, one in which he never surrendered the lead to finish 0.426 seconds ahead of Andrew Jordan, with Matt Neal and Jason Plato in third and fourth respectively.
"We managed the gap, kept it sensible and brought the car home for a good win," said Shedden afterwards.
He settled for a third place finish in the second race as Jordan claimed his first win of the season at his home circuit.
"The home crowd are giving me a lot of support here this weekend. The car has just been fantastic all weekend," said the Pirtek Racing driver.
Plato, who heads the standings after two rounds, was runner-up in the second race.
In the third race, former BTCC champion Colin Turkington rolled back the years with his first victory since his 2009 championship winning campaign.
Shedden was nearly five seconds off the pace, while Neal finished third.
