Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner's controversial collision in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix will be discussed by the FIM.

Governing body won't change Jerez result

Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner's controversial collision in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix will be discussed by MotoGP's governing body at a hearing later this month. The pair locked horns at the end of lap six of the Jerez circuit when Rossi crashed his Ducati into the Honda rider while attempting an ambitious overtaking manoeuvre. Rossi accepted responsibility for the crash and apologised after the race, while Stoner conceded it was a "racing incident", although could not resist a barbed jibe at his rival, telling the Italian: "Your ambition outweighed your talent". The result of Sunday's race - which was won by reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo with Rossi recovering to finish fifth - will not be subject to change at the hearing which takes place on Thursday April 28, prior to the next race at Portugal's Estoril circuit. A statement from governing body the FIM read: "Following the collision between Rossi and Stoner during the MotoGP race of the Spanish Grand Prix on 3 April in Jerez, the Race Direction has decided to organise a hearing with the Clerk of the Course and the Chief Marshal in order to review the incident and to hear the explanation of the officials in charge. "Due to the fact that the final decision of the Race Direction will not affect the result of the race, the hearing will be organised on Thursday 28 April in Estoril, Portugal."
