Nika Racing's Nykjaer took the chequered flag at the end of an eventful first race, the Dane taking the lead from Gabriele Tarquini on lap five just moments before Tiago Monteiro's big crash triggered a safety car.
The safety car period remained in force until two laps from the end, which Nykjaer negotiated safely to take the win ahead of Tarquini with James Nash in third.
In the second race, 18-year-old Oriola became the youngest ever WTCC race winner as he capitalised fully on his front-row start on the reversed grid.
The Spaniard led from start to finish, holding off the experienced Yvan Muller and Tom Chilton on his run to the flag.
