British Superbikes: Tommy Bridewell claims first win

Tommy Bridewell and Stuart Easton took a race each in a dramatic third round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park.
Bridewell claimed his first win for the Tyco BMW team in the opening race, as he held off Josh Brookes and Shane 'Shakey' Byrne, but his hopes of a daily double ended after he crashed out of the second race at Hizzy's chicane.
Ryuichi Kiyonari made the running in that race, but Byrne nosed ahead with four laps remaining. The Japanese rider tried desperately to re-take him only to lose control at Hizzy's, tumbling and taking Byrne down.
Easton came through on the PBM Kawasaki to take his first victory in five years ahead of James Ellison, the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider who now leads the series 109-101 from the luckless Byrne.
Bridewell told the British Superbikes website: "It makes a change to be at the front as normally I am sat behind these other guys and struggling to hold on! All credit to the Tyco BMW team as the bike was working phenomenally.
"We had struggled in the first two rounds as we had to run the hard tyre and I knew where I was losing the time. We ran the zero today and I knew the lap times we could do and I just raced my lap timer in that one."
