Wade finding form

James Wade says he is finally finding his real form in the Premier League, and is excited to be joint top of the table despite not yet playing his best.

James Wade says he is finally finding his real form in the Premier League, and is excited to be joint top of the table despite not yet playing his best.

'The Machine' rattled up to number three in the world by winning the World Matchplay and Grand Prix last year.

A quarter-final exit in the World Championships was a disappointment for the talented left-hander, and he has not yet sparkled in the Premier League.

However, in his debut season on the big stage tournament, Wade leads the way despite not yet producing his best arrows.

Wade has averaged over 100 in his last two outings though, and he says his latest win over Terry Jenkins felt more like his old self.

"I'm slowly but surely getting back to how I was playing at the end of last year," said Wade.

"I can't keep saying that though, I have to deliver and it's not as good as it can be yet."

Average

"I've been practising to average 110-115, and in the first six legs against Terry I did that. After that it eased off but I was grateful to get the win."

Wade is delighted to be heading the standings, along with Ryamond van Barneveld, despite not yet feeling at the top of his game.

"There's no better feeling than knowing that I haven't played my best game yet I'm joint top.

"I've got to believe in myself a bit more and enjoy it - it was enjoyable against Terry, like it was in the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix.

"I didn't try, it was just a natural rhythm and it flowed, I'm very excited about the next few weeks."

Wade takes on Adrian Lewis in Aberdeen on Thursday with a win moving him a step closer to sealing a play-off place.
