Artem Markelov took a controlled victory in the F2 Sprint Race in Austria as George Russell took the lead of the drivers' championship.
Lando Norris had led the championship since the opening round in Bahrain, but as the season reaches the halfway mark, the McLaren reserve driver has now been overhauled by Mercedes reserve driver Russell.
In a race of contrasting fortunes for the title rivals, Russell charged through from eighth on the grid to third after just three laps, eventually going on to finish second.
Norris, on the other hand, struggled to progress from his grid slot of seventh and by the end of the race was a sitting duck as he struggled for grip and dropped to 11th. It was only the second time this season Norris has not scored points.
Having starred with brave overtakes on Saturday, Markelov drove a completely different race on Sunday as he controlled the race from pole, showing good speed, but also skill to look after his Pirelli tyres.
The Russian also took the two bonus points for fastest lap and he moves up to third in the drivers' championship.
The podium was completed by Carlin's Brazilian driver Sergio Sette Camara, his fourth podium finish of the season.
Next up Formula 2 heads to Silverstone with qualifying on Friday, the Feature Race on Saturday and the Sprint Race on Sunday. As always you can see all the action live on Sky Sports F1.
Sean Gelael will have a three-place grid penalty at Silverstone after stewards deemed he'd forced Louis Delatraz off the track at Turn Four. He also had two points added to his licence.
