The Denver Broncos' players have reportedly not been briefed on Peyton Manning's return date.

According to a report on NFL.com, Manning has sat out all practices and meetings this week and has not spoken with Brock Osweiler about a game plan ahead of the clash against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

The quarterback had already been ruled out of the game, with fourth-year back-up Osweiler filling in for the five-time league MVP.

NFL Media's James Palmer has spoken with several members of the Broncos' squad - according to the report - and none have been briefed on a timetable for Manning's return, while team-mates have also not been briefed on the specifics of his injuries.

It is understood the quarterback is struggling with a foot injury after underperforming in the Broncos' defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 10.

Manning also underwent an MRI scan on his rib cage on Monday, with coach Gary Kubiak revealing the results came back with positive news.

It remains to be seen whether Manning will be fit to face the undefeated New England Patriots and Tom Brady on November 29.
