The Atlanta Falcons have announced that they have released return man and wide receiver Devin Hester.

Hester is one of the most dynamic returners in the league history and holds the NFL record in kick return touchdowns (20) and punt return touchdowns (14).

The three-time All-Pro was originally drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round (57th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Miami (FL).

Last season, Hester was placed on injured-reserve designated to return at the beginning of the season with a toe injury.

The 33-year-old returned in Week 13 and recorded 269 total return yards during the last five games of the year.

Roddy White has been courted by Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which might be a good fit for the veteran

The Falcons have made a concerted effort to have a younger wide receiver core this offseason by parting company with Roddy White, their all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.

The team signed former Cincinnati Bengal Mohamed Sanu in free agency to replace White and also drafted Devin Fuller out of UCLA.

Fuller will compete with running back Tevin Coleman and fellow wide receiver Eric Weems in training camp for the right to assume Hester's return duties.
