Ben Roethlisberger has confirmed he will play a 14th season with the Pittsburgh Steelers later this year.

The Steelers quarterback said after January's AFC Championship game defeat he would take a few weeks to consider retirement.

Roethlisberger has since turned 35, but a short statement on his Twitter feed confirmed he will be back for a shot at a third Super Bowl success.

He said: "Informed the team I am looking forward to my 14th season. Steelers Nation will get my absolute best! - Ben."

Roethlisberger's game showed few signs of fatigue last season as he threw 29 touchdown passes and had nine 400-yard passing games - the fourth most in NFL history.
